Club History

Central Ohio Ntrak, Inc., was founded on June 14, 1989 by the late Roy Bodd and David Williams, one current active member, Craig Thompson, and Steve Mahaney, and by former member, Steve Mahaney.

In 1992 the NMRA awarded the NMRA National Convention to Columbus, Division 6. MCR.  The members of Central Ohio Ntrak (Contrak for short) where asked to handle the N-East Convention to be held concurrent with the NMRA National Convention.  Discover N' 92 was born.  At the time of the 1992 convention, the club had about 12 members.

From 1993 to 2000 the Contrak rented the model railroad building at the Ohio State Fairgrounds (also know as the Ohio Expo Center).  The club increased it's membership to around 50 members and added HO, G and Z scale railroads in addition to it's two N layouts for display at the building.

After the Ohio Expo Center decided not to renew our lease on the Model Railroad Building the club to moved to it's current location at 3840 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio, in January, 2001.  The club's current membership numbers around 20.  The layouts at the club's location, N and N t-trak, are open to the public on Tuesdays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (except the 2nd Tuesday of the month which is the Business Meeting).  Contrak also has displayed layouts at the Hartford Fair since 2003.  Other display locations are the Marion Train Show, Dayton Division 3 Train Show, the Buckeye Show, and the Greenberg Train & Toy Show.

In 2009, Contrak began the Ohio N-scale Weekend.  This show has become a must attend event for anyone who models in N scale.  The show usually has 10 clubs displaying their layouts and many vendors.
